Teofimo Lopez shocked Vasiliy Lomachenko and unified the lightweight titles to become the undisputed champion. Lopez appeared to clearly confuse and outbox Lomachenko for the first seven rounds primarily working behind a quick stiff jab. Lomachenko had a late round rally in rounds eight through eleven but Lopez came back strong in the twelfth to rock Lomachenko and take back the momentum. The late round rally was not enough and Lopez won a comfortable unanimous decision victory. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
Join us as we preview and breakdown the mega lightweight unification bout between Vasyl Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez that takes place this Saturday. Beeb and Eric give their take on this epic matchup and recap this past week’s boxing action.
Jose Zepeda and Ivan Baranchyk went to war last night, in arguably the fight of the year, as the pair traded eight knockdowns with each scoring four a piece. The culmination came in the fifth round as Zepeda landed a short explosive left hook that had Baranchyk down for several seconds. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
Jermell Charlo headlined a stacked card last night as he unified three junior middleweight titles by scoring an eight round knockout over the tough Jeison Rosario. The fight appeared to be even in rounds up until the point of the stoppage but a first and sixth round knockdown gave Charlo the lead going in to the eighth round. The fight ended after Charlo landed a jab to the midsection that seemed to suck all the air out of Rosario and he was not able to get up off the canvas. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
Erickson Lubin won a wide decision over Terell Gausha last night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The fight started off slow with both men not throwing a lot of punches but Lubin appeared to be doing just a bit more to nick the early and mid rounds. Outside of landing a big right hand in the tenth round that had Lubin on shaky legs and another pretty decent round in the eleventh, Gausha didn’t offer up much offense. Lubin appeared to carry the fight and proceeded to win a unanimous decision victory. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
We had a very slow week of boxing with no big fights scheduled but there is plenty of boxing news to talk about. The big story this week is Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and his ongoing issues with his promoter Golden Boy Promotions and his broadcaster DAZN. Apparently, Alvarez has filed a lawsuit against both parties that was dismissed by the U.S. District Court in the Central District of California this past Friday. It seems as though this won’t be the end of this dispute between the parties and more than likely there will be more legal action to come. Only time will tell how plays out. In the meantime, this leaves Canelo, DAZN, and Golden Boy Promotions without a big fight to close out the year. This doesn’t look good for all parties involved and is bad news for boxing fans. Eric and Beeb will weigh in and give their thoughts on the situation.
Jamel Herring retained his WBO title last night by disqualification over Jonathan Oquendo as a result of a fifth round headbutt that was deemed intentional by referee Tony Weeks. The fight started out well for Herring and was highlighted by a third round knockdown of Oquendo from a left uppercut. As the fight wore on the fight got ugly with Oquendo often leaning in with his head as he recklessly came forward. Oquendo’s uncontrolled aggression cost him a point in the fifth round after a clash of heads was deemed intentional with the referee finding him at fault. Herring suffered a cut over his right eye from the head clash. The cut continued to get worse later in to the fight and he was no longer able to see because of the heavy flow of blood that was going in to his eye. The fight was stopped in the eighth round because Herring claimed that he could no longer see out of the injured eye and he was awarded the victory via disqualification. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
Jose Ramirez got all he could handle last night as he narrowly eked out a majority decision over Viktor Postal. Postal had success from the outside landing his jab and right hand with regularity in large portions of the fight. Ramirez also did some good work with his constant pressure and solid work on the inside when he was able to get past the jab of Postal. In a fight that could have gone either way Ramirez did just enough to get the nod to retain his WBO and WBC junior welterweight titles. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
Alexander Povetkin shocked the boxing world yesterday with probably the comeback of the year in a shocking upset over the heavily favored Dillian Whyte. Povetkin got off to a pretty decent start but in the fourth round he suffered two knockdowns from the heavy hitting Whyte and going in to the fifth it looked like it was all but over for him. But, Povetkin found lightning in a bottle and out of nowhere he landed a vicious left uppercut that put Whyte down and out cold with no count from the referee needed. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
David Benavidez may have lost his WBC super middleweight title on the scale but he more than made up for it in his fight with Alexis Angulo as he totally dominated his overly matched foe. Benavidez won every second of every round by battering Angulo from pillar to post in an extremely one sided fight in which Angulo offered up virtually no resistance. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
Although Thomas Dulorme had his moments early on Jamal James poured it on down the stretch to outwork and out box Dulorme. With the victory James picked up the vacant interim WBA Welterweight Title. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
After getting off to a good start Tramaine Williams fell victim to a relentless vicious body attack from Angelo Leo who took over the fight from the sixth round on winning a wide twelve round decision. Leo took home the WBO Jr. Featherweight Title that was vacated by Emanuel Navarrete. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
After starting off slowly Oscar Valdez picked up the pace and scored three knockdowns (once in the fifth and twice in the tenth round) before forcing the referee to wave off the bout in the tenth. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.

Headlining for the first time in her career, Mikaela Mayer easily dismantled the tough and durable Helen Joseph pitching a virtual shutout at “The Bubble” in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas last Thursday night. This not only marked the first time that Mayer headlined a card but it was also the first female boxing headlined card for her promotional company Top Rank. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
Former world heavyweight title challenger Carlos Takam grinded out a close hard fought decision over the very game Jerry Forrest this past Thursday in "The Bubble" at the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas. Takam, who is generally an inside volume punching fighter, decided to take a more methodical approach and box Forrest from the outside. After getting off to a very good start Takam faded a bit down the stretch while Forrest staged a late rally to close the gap. In the end the rally from Forrest just wasn’t enough and Takam held on to win a unanimous decision. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
Jose Pedraza won every second of every round in his fight last Thursday night against a grossly over matched Mikkel LesPierre. LesPierre showed a lot of heart and grit but the skill gap was just too great and he was not able to threaten Pedraza in any way. Despite scoring two knockdowns, one in the fifth round and one in the tenth, the bout for the most part was pretty uneventful as Pedraza cruised to a one sided victory. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
WBC Super Featherweight Champion Miguel Berchelt had no problem whatsoever in taking out his overmatched opponent Eleazar Valenzuela in six rounds in a non title match at the TV Azteca Studios in Mexico City. Berchelt landed two big right hands that stunned Valenzuela badly and followed up with a big left hook that forced his badly dazed opponent back in to the ropes where he landed a few more punches that forced the referee to step in and stop the contest. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
WBO Junior Featherweight Champion Emanuel Navarrete methodically wore down and stopped Uriel Lopez in six rounds last night in a non-title bout at the TV Azteca studios in Mexico City. Lopez fought hard and was game but just could not stand up to the debilitating body shots from Navarrete. Eric and Beeb recap this fight as well as the rest of the past week's boxing action.
