Gennnady Golovkin returned to the ring after a nine month layoff to take on fringe contender Steve Rolls. Although Rolls did have his moments and ended up making the fight interesting in spots, Golovkin proved to be too much for Rolls as he ended up scoring a monstrous left hook that ended the fight in the fourth round. Andy Ruiz did the unthinkable last night in New York at the Madison Square Garden and became the first Mexican heavyweight champion by stopping Anthony Joshua in the seventh round. The two men traded knockdowns in the third round with Ruiz scoring two knockdowns to Joshua's one. Then in the seventh round Ruiz scored two more knockdowns and Joshua seemed to be out of it, forcing the referee to call a halt to the bout.
