Former WBC Welterweight Champion Danny Garcia returned to the ring last night after a nine month layoff and pitched a virtual shutout over Ivan Redkach. Garcia was just too much for the very game and rugged Redkach who just couldn’t get his offense going. In a bizarre turn of events Redkach appeared to bite Garcia in his left shoulder during a tie up in the eight round but outside of that the fight was a very onesided uneventful affair. Jeison Rosario scored a shocking upset this past Saturday when he dismantled and stopped WBA/IBF Junior Middleweight Champion Julian Williams in the fifth round. The fight was fairly competitive for the first four rounds and appeared to be even on the scorecards but as they say in the sport of boxing one punch can change everything. Rosario proved just that as he landed a huge left hook in the fifth round that Williams just couldn’t recover from. After Rosario landed the shot Williams was visibly very wobbly and hurt and went down after catching several more unanswered blows. Williams got up and still looked extremely hurt. Undisputed women’s female middleweight champion Claressa Shields became the fastest boxer to win titles in three different weight classes with her one sided decision victory over Ivana Habazin this past Friday night.
