On this special Tuesday edition of Ringside Reporter Show, Canelo Alvarez is being told by DAZN that there are two acceptable opponents for his September fight.  

After a slow in week of boxing action Nordine Oubaali clearly provided the stand out performance of the weekend as he had his way with the game challenger Arthur Villanueva and pretty much dominated throughout. Oubbaali knocked down Villanueva in the sixth round and although Villanueva got up he was overwhelmed by Oubaali and the referee had no choice but to stop the fight. WBO Middleweight Champion Demetrius Andrade pitched a shutout over the game top contender Maciej Sulecki last night in Andrade’s backyard in Providence, Rhode Island. Andrade started the fight fast and furious in which he scored a quick knockdown in the first round over Sulecki with a looping left hand. Although Andrade proved he could hurt Sulecki and beat him to the punch at every turn he decided to coast by in many of the rounds to secure a one-sided unanimous decision by the scores of 120-107 on all three judges’ scorecards. Andrew Cancio proved it wasn’t a fluke this time around in his rematch with Alberto Machado and stopped him with a vicious left hook to the body in the third round. Cancio’s pressure seemed to be the difference in this fight and it appeared to wear Machado who didn’t seem to have an answer for it. Lineal heavy weight champion Tyson Fury returned to the ring last night in the first fight under his ESPN contract against fringe contender Tom Schwartz. Fury showed a little bit of everything from his repertoire against the game Schwartz and eventually stopped the German contender in the second round. Gennnady Golovkin returned to the ring after a nine month layoff to take on fringe contender Steve Rolls. Although Rolls did have his moments and ended up making the fight interesting in spots, Golovkin proved to be too much for Rolls as he ended up scoring a monstrous left hook that ended the fight in the fourth round. Andy Ruiz did the unthinkable last night in New York at the Madison Square Garden and became the first Mexican heavyweight champion by stopping Anthony Joshua in the seventh round. The two men traded knockdowns in the third round with Ruiz scoring two knockdowns to Joshua's one. Then in the seventh round Ruiz scored two more knockdowns and Joshua seemed to be out of it, forcing the referee to call a halt to the bout. Jamel Herring won a hard fought unanimous decision last night over Masayuki Ito and captured the WBO Junior Lightweight Title. Herring seemed to be the ring general in the fight with his movement and ability to control the distance but Ito continued to press all night and never gave up. Robert Easter and Rances Barthelemy squared off last night for the vacant WBA Regular World Title last night Las Vegas. The fight was more or less a very tactical fight to say the least in which neither man really decided to take the lead. Both men seemed content with trying to set traps for each other all night with nether man taking the bait. At the end of the day in fight that was extremely hard to score the matchup ended in an uneventful draw. Although Khan had a few decent moments, Terence Crawford clearly showed his dominance in their fight this past Saturday night in New York at the Madison Square Garden. Crawford who was making the second defense of his WBO welterweight title wasted no time as he knocked Khan down in the first round with a counter right hand. Khan rose from the knockdown but just couldn’t seem to find a way to nullify Crawford’s boxing ability in this contest. The fight ended in a bizarre way in the sixth round when Crawford landed a shot clearly below the belt that appeared to land on Khan’s leg, not the cup area. Nevertheless, Khan claimed that he was hit in the genital area. He stated that he was in a lot of pain and told his trainer Virgil Hunter that he could not continue. The ref then waved off the fight after being instructed by Hunter to do so and Crawford was awarded a sixth round TKO victory. Terence Crawford defends his WBO welterweight title next week against the former two time world champion Amir Khan. Most people aren’t giving Khan much of a chance but the highly skilled and lightning quick Brit could prove to be a tougher foe than people are expecting. After a slow weekend of boxing action we look ahead to the following weekend that looks to be chock full of intriguing matchups. In what appears to be the most competitive and intriguing matchup on the schedule, this upcoming Saturday night, Christina Hammer takes on Claressa Shields in a winner take all showdown. This one is for all the marbles as both women look to become the undisputed unified women’s middleweight champion of the world. Another interesting fight on the schedule has unified lightweight champion defending his WBA and WBO lightweight titles against the very tough, rugged, and experienced former title challenger Anthony Crolla. Lomanchenko is the clear favorite going in but the durable Crolla always comes to fight and, given his track record, probably won’t go away quietly.

Oleksandr Gvozdyk made his first defense of his WBC title, that he won from Adonis Stevenson, against Doudou  Ngumbu this past Saturday night. Gvozdyk seemed to do just enough to nick rounds against the wild swinging Ngumbu. Then all of a sudden in the fifth round Ngumbu started limping and complained of an injury to his right calf and could not continue.
